Dance Jam is the best movement class and weekly event I have found to attend in all of northeast Los Angeles, and since finding the class I look forward to Monday nights more than any other night. No matter how I feel when I come to class, I always leave feeling relaxed in body and refreshed in spirit. It's rare to find a place where one can be so completely one's self, where free movement and authentic expression is fostered and welcomed, and where the environment fully supports one to listen deeply within, but that's exactly what happens every Monday night at Dance Jam. JP has created a weekly event that brings together a diverse group of people and creates community. Dance Jam is a gem.

I went from being a person who is terrified of the dance floor to actually looking forward to Monday nights at Dance Jam! I have been saying that "I don't dance" for my entire life, and now get comments from people about how freed up I seem. I find myself even moving to music in the grocery store! I can honestly say that I.M. Jam changed my life. Each week I leave feeling inspired, grounded, and more free. Jean-Paul is a miracle worker.

I.M. Jam is an amazing way to join other community members in celebration and recreation. One of my favorite aspects of IMJam is the non-judgmental open door policy. All are welcome, invited and encouraged to participate. I notice that when I participate in IM Jam I feel healthier, more positive and feel connected to other community members. Thank you for providing such a gorgeous space for this important community event.

Monday nights at I.M. Jam is like a breath of fresh energy in the mist of our daily lives. Allowing me to face the week ahead with a whole new charge of expression, love & respect to the communities that I interact with.

WOW! The I.M. Jam has touched my life in so many ways. It feeds my soul in ways I never imagined. Dance and music have always been a big part of my life. The Jam gives me the space to take it to a higher level. Jean-Paul’s music selections are always spot on! Give it a whirl and a twirl!

I love your I.M. Jam -- it is truly a sanctuary in which to explore the depths and have fun while doing it!

I attended my first I.M. Jam in October 2010. I had a blast! I had no idea that dancing/moving for two hours without verbal communication could be so spiritual and freeing. JP's music had the perfect flow throughout the night. Even though I was in a room full of people, I really felt like I got my "me time" for the week. I highly recommend I.M. Jam for anyone who wants to feel both relaxed and energized.

The Monday night Jam is a shining example of a conscious vibrant community formed around a common interest in health and wholeness. JP has lovingly brought the magic of movement to the San Gabriel valley in a unique way, the weekly jam provides our community the opportunity to move our bodies with purpose and to allow self healing on all levels. Thank you JP and the Los Angeles County parks and recreation department for bringing this gift to our community.

I have been participating in Jean-Paul's Dance Jam classes for over a year now and am so excited to have a regular dance class on the East side of town! I really enjoy stepping into the Davies Center to take time to move fluidly in this lovely space of rustic stone and dim lighting with candles and sometimes a fire burning in the fireplace. JP mixes up a fantastic and inspiring selection of music that inspires all of us there to move, stretch and dance with our own intuitive creativity and the energies of the other people as well! I highly recommend this class to anyone who loves to dance or enjoys a free organic style of movement to a wide variety of music. I also enjoy JP's addition of flute and live percussion to the mix. I invite you all to come experience this fun, cathartic class that encourages freedom of movement, lifting of spirit and sweating of body! It's a total blast and I hope to dance with you all soon!

Friends, a rare talent is among us. Stretching on the floor I went deep, then deeper, eyes shut in darkness, at first meditating, feeling waves of light, cool air as my fellow dancers whirled silently around me. Later standing, moving in small steps, then wider... each thoughtfully-selected song seamlessly flowing into the next. Which brilliant artist is leading me to these deep spaces I wondered... it was Jean-Paul, a man, in his youth, who has already mastered the art, and the sensitivity, of a seasoned soul dance guide.

I have been dancing in Los Angeles for 13 years and last week, Jean-Paul launched us so far out into the cosmos that when I walked out I forgot where I parked my car !!! LOL… Jean-Paul is a very gifted spirit and I am looking forward to his next awesome journey.

I originally came to I.M. Jam to support my fitness and weight loss goals, so I wasn't surprised to get a great cardio workout with every session. What did surprise me was how much fun, freedom and empowerment I feel from stretching, dancing, jumping, spinning and just playing in this wonderful environment. So while I still get a great Monday workout, I absolutely treasure the joy I.M. Jam brings to my life.

Do you love to dance? Whether it be alone in your home or amongst friends? Do you love music that moves you physically, emotionally, mentally---maybe even spiritually? Do you love beautiful spaces near nature? Do you love the idea of getting away from the hustle and bustle of L.A. chaos and going somewhere peaceful yet opportunistically social where you can unwind and express yourself without being judged or having to dress up? Do you sometimes crave a place toxin- free (alcohol, smoke, drugs, etc.) where you can move/dance and be high on the experience itself without having to expose yourself to other people's unhealthy choices? O.k. then...here you go....you need to visit the I.M. Jam in Altadena. It's in the beautiful Davies theater overlooking the park....a large wood floor, a giant fireplace, two balconies that open to a gorgeous view of nature and a proscenium stage to encourage your inner creative fire as you move! You can wear comfort clothes to move and sweat in...you know, cotton, fluid, flexible clothes....massage, dance, yoga, work-out vibe clothes. This event is very much a “do what you feel” thing. Some people shake it, bake it and quake it...others just lie on the floor and stretch to the music, while still others dance/move/float through the space as if they were the winds of life personified. All ages, both genders….Beautiful, open space….Good music showcasing a variety of genres. Why not come experience something new and see how you feel afterwards? I guarantee you a better night's sleep on Mondays if you attend the I.M. Jam! See you there.....

The I.M. Jam is relaxing, invigorating and FUN! I feel completely comfortable attending by myself and the lighting is low enough so you really can dance like no one is watching. Whether I do my homegrown version of a samba, ballet, a waltz, or just stretch on the floor, I can be in my own world with the music and feel completely free to try anything, goofy or not!
Bridget A. – La Canada, CA
I have always loved to dance. But my first time at I.M. Jam I was surprised....Feeling totally free in movement was so strange, so new, and so different from what I had done in the past. It was a great time like every moment there since! It's so much fun!!! Thanks Jean-Paul and the group for making it possible!

When I came for the first time to check out the I.M. jam last year I knew right away that this is a practice I really wanted to commit to - it felt so good and so right and everything from the facilitator and his fine sense for vibrations to the people who are dancing together in that wonderful space - it is such a great way to start a new week. I have been dancing now for almost a year and I am very thankful for every Monday night that Jean-Paul is filling the lodge with his tunes...

Jean-Paul creates a beautiful space for self expression, discovery and exploration. I always enjoy my time at the I.M.Jam!

Thanks for I.M. Jam Jean-Paul! I love the setting in the vintage Craftsman era Farnsworth Park Davies Building, Your music mix is so conducive to creating imaginative dance forms -- I liken my dance to the idea of "life sculpture" -- carving movements out of the time spent rhapsodically interpreting the music into body expressions. Ecstatic Dance practices such as this are efficient means of marrying mind and body, encouraging cardiovascular exercise, and getting a celebration of living Groove on! The I.M. Jam Rocks!

As someone who is on a sacred journey to reawaken my body's ability to heal itself, I am so grateful for the space that Jean-Paul provides at the I.M. Jam. Dance has always been my touchstone and my entry to joy. However, being in the middle of a rather painful flare of my Rheumatoid Arthritis, it has been difficult for me to do traditional dance classes as it is sometimes impossible for me to follow the choreographed movements because of the pain I am experiencing. However, in intuitive dance, I am able to allow my body to move the way it needs to in order to move the energy through. Thank you, Jean-Paul for offering this space.
Marcella - Los Angeles, CA
I was looking all over LA for a place OTHER than a dance club to dance, where I didn't have to learn steps, so you can imagine how excited I was to find out that Jean-Paul was holding I.M. Jam right up the hill, at Farnsworth Park! So precisely what I was looking for, and in walking distance. And it's everything I thought it would be - and more. I love that there are no steps to learn and no pressure. I love that the group is varied in terms of age and such... There was a really wonderful older couple who came recently for instance, and it was great to see them out there, having so much fun with each other and with the group. I'm a really verbal person, personally and in my work (I read and write), so it's really refreshing and different to spend an hour or two without talking. Even in yoga, the teacher talks! I'm enjoying the non-verbal group interaction - it's not often that you spend so much time with people you don't know well but get to know a bit without talking to them (since there are regulars who come every week, as well as new people who join in). And interesting to see how the dynamic evolves over time and changes from week to week in interesting ways. It is not at all about performance, and the lighting from the big chandeliers is kept nice and low - but I enjoy seeing how unique everyone is in their relationship to the music and space and am impressed by it. I'm really thankful to Jean-Paul for doing this - he clearly does this out of passion for it. We're really lucky to have this right here in Altadena! It's a great combo of cardio (nice non-gym way to get in one's exercise), yoga, dance... I go every week, without fail.

I heard about I.M. Jam from a few different friends for a couple of months before I finally ran out of excuses for not going. I wish I had run out of excuses sooner. A decade ago I used to dance a lot. These days, strangely I listen to a lot of dance music, but rarely dance. I.M. Jam has been the perfect place for me to begin moving again. Jean-Paul's selection of music is amazing. And, although the Jam isn't a class, watching Jean-Paul move, and the other people in the space too, provides plenty of inspiration to expand my own repertoire of movement. Slowly but surely, I am introducing more of my friends to my new favorite Monday night adventure. Sometimes it takes a little while... as they too need to run out of excuses first. Then they thank me.
